Flash 9 for Firefox 3.0 not functioning for user account

Greetings, everyone. I have only begun using openSUSE recently, so please bear with me if the answer to what I ask seems ridiculously obvious.

The Flash 9 plugin for Firefox 3.0 is not detected when I’m logged in as an user, even though I’ve installed the rpm through YaST. By “detected”, I mean it shows up on Adobe’s version test page as well as in Firefox>>Tools>>Add-ons>>Plugins. I noticed that when I log in as root, the plugin is detected and works for Firefox. I had previously removed (via YaST) the Firefox and Flash that came included with openSUSE 10.3 install, then installed the newer Firefox. Any ideas how I can get Flash to work on my current Firefox, under an user account?

OS: Linux 2.6.22.18-0.2-default i686
System: openSUSE 10.3 (i586)
KDE: 3.5.7 “release 72.9”
Firefox: 3.0
Flash: 9.0.124.0

I have:
openSUSE 11.0
linux 2.6.25.5-1.1-pae
MozillaFirefox-3.0-0.1
kde 3.5.9 “release 64.4”
shockwave Flash 9.0 r124

It appears to work in Firefox but not in Konqueror.

Help, anyone?

If you’ve installed Firefox 3.0 from a non-yast method, then the new FF3
doesn’t know about suse’s browser plugin subdir. (/usr/lib/browser-plugins)

Look in ‘/usr/lib/browser-plugins’ and find ‘libflashplayer.so’.

Of course, if libflashplayer.so isn’t in that subdir for some reason, you’ll
have to find it. (hint: ‘find / -iname “libflashplayer.so”’ will work)

Copy that file into the ‘plugins’ subdir in the FF3 subdir.

For example:

If FF3 is installed in /opt/Firefox3

Copy the libflashplayer.so file into /opt/Firefox3/plugins

Restart any instances of Firefox you might have running, it should then show
up in the Add-ons -> Plugins window.

There is a way to add a plugin to a user’s .mozilla subdir, but I always
forget where to put the ‘plugins’ subdir, and of course, then it only works
for that user. Just easier to drop it into the global plugins in the FF3
install directory and not worry about it.

Thank you so much! Flash now works in Firefox when I’m logged in as an user.
