I’ve installed countless ATI cards using their proprietary drivers, but this is the first time I’ve seen this error. I don’t have a clue what the problem is. I tried searching for a package XFree86 - and I have all the kernel development, etc., installed on this fresh installation of 11.3 (I have an ATI HD 5650 on my Pavilion laptop - it could be as simple as a path error?):
