ASUS M2V-MX SE
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200
2 Gb memory
Geforce 7300 LE
VSC ViewSonic VA902-2
Two IDE hard disks one for linux’s and the other for WindowsXP
etc.
From the openSUSE-11.1-Beta1 installation DVD I run Firmware Test wtih the result:
Test results: 3 fail, 5 warn, 11 pass
[FAIL] OS/2 memory hole test
F The memory map has a hole between 15Mb and 16Mb
[FAIL] DMI information check
F No SMBIOS nor DMI entry point found
[FAIL] HPET configuration test
F Failed to locate HPET base

Have look in your BIOS’ “advanced settings”. I bet you’ll find an
option “OS/2 memory hole” there which is enabled, but shouldn’t be.

Hmmm. That looks like a BIOS problem, perhaps fixable by granting
your mainboard a BIOS update. But given that you are trying a
Beta1 release here, it could also be a bug in the test program
itself.
Do you experience any problems beside the Firmware Test result?

None of the messages you quoted has anything to do with memory
errors.
I too have an Asus M2V-MX SE mobo, running opensuse 11.0 64 bit.
Everything seems O.K except I have no sound???
The onboard sound works fine using Ubunto live CD.
OpenSuse see’s the sound chip & configures it, but still no sound.
Any ideas???
