FireFTP can't delete local files

i’ve used the firefox add-on FireFTP <http://fireftp.mozdev.org/> for
several years and like it a lot…simple and handy…

but the version 1.99.4 loaded on my openSUSE 11.4 is unable to delete
local files…

previous versions, a right click on a local file and select “Delete”
would result in the file being deleted…

current version: same action results in a pop-up error “Unable to delete
file.” and the creation, in the local directory of a new sub-directory
/home, it including an empty sub-directory /.Trash

i’d wish another user to confirm that undesired action and join my bug
here: https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=24131

isn’t it just a matter of setting up an account?

if you don’t wanna do that (?), maybe you would include your software
specifics here, and i point to this thread in the bug report…

Hi,

yes it’s just a matter of setting up an account, but apparently the throw-away email adress I use for that (something@mailinator.com) doesn’t work.

I’m loathe to use other email addresses.

As to y system specs, pretty much the same as yours, 11.4 kept updated, Firefix 5.0 latest fireftp version (same as yours).

It looks to me as if Fireftp tries to move the file into “/home/.Trash” instead of “/home/<your username>/.Trash”.

good observation…
and not finding “/home/.Trash” it builds one in the current
directory…but then fails to move the file to be deleted into it (which
is ok, since it won’t be deleted there, just misplaced)

I can confirm that behavior also occurs using FireFTP on SeaMonkey 2.2. I don’t use it with Firefox.

thanks for info…i wonder if anyone reading here has a different distro
handy (that is, i wonder if it is just an openSUSE thing)??

I suppose I could ask in the Firefox or SeaMonkey support newsgroup and forum. BTW I’m using version 1.99.5 of FireFTP.

I got it here.

FireFTP - The Free FTP Client for Mozilla Firefox

ok, now i see…that page has a typo! it says “1.99.5, English
(300kb)” but if you open your firefox to Menu > Tools > Add-ons >
Extensions, i believe you will find you have installed “FireFTP 1.99.4”
just like me…

Nope. FireFTP 1.99.5 in SeaMonkey.

However, I just installed in Firefox and that version is FireFTP 1.99.4

Both display the bug you discovered.
