Firefox slow?

All,
For some reason Firefox loads pages really slow on my 11.3 install. Chrome everything loads fast. I am running the latest of firefox.

I have done the usual tweaks to the about:config that I found on the internet. Is there a reason for this and can I fix it?

If you try a new user login with a non modified .mozilla folder
Is it slow?

How many plugins do you have installed? The more plugins that are
installed, the longer FF takes to start.

I don’t have any plugins at all and this is a fresh install. It opens up just fine, but loading pages seems to be slow.

Maybe related to IPv6?

SDB:Disable IPv6 for Firefox - openSUSE

Disable IPv6

Nope, disabled in network manager. I’ll just have to use Chrome for my browser now.

Sigh, and I’ve been a diehard mozilla/firefox fan boy forever for speed and alas it has finally jumped the shark.

Have you tried using the firefox 3 instead?
How To Switch to Firefox 3.6 in openSUSE 11.4

still running slow and I’m running 3.6 on 11.3:/ anyone have any other ideas? Chrome loads extremely fast for me

I went through this on 11.4 ff 4.0 and disabling in yast network and a number of other places didn’t do anything.

The about:config did

Anyway as it wont load my old bookmarks I’ve switched to opera. Works straight out of the box.
