Use the search engine of your choice and search for “disable IPv6 firefox”.
Since installing the latest Firefox upgrade I can’t get the browser to launch.
Open a terminal, type ‘firefox’, hit return, post any output it produces here.
Hi
This is what comes up in the terminal:
stephanie@linux-cd14:~> firefox
Could not find compatible GRE between version 1.9.0.4 and 1.9.0.4.

Hi!
I’ve never seen this one, but it appears that it’s quite common - search for ‘xulrunner’ and you’ll find lots on it.
It appears that the solution is often to add the mozilla repository, though that rather depends on what you have installed already.
Post the output of ‘zypper lr’ please.
Here is the output:
stephanie@linux-cd14:~> zypper lr

I having been using Debian(Ubuntu,Mint)since last August, but rpm is completely new to me.
OK, you aren’t drowning in software repos, which is a common pitfall. I’m not absolutely sure how to proceed, but the impression I got from the other threads was that if you load YaST, enter software sources, and add this repo;
Index of /repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1
Then let YaST refresh its repository list, and try to update the xlrunner package, it might fix everything. If it does, it may be advisable to disable the repository afterwards, so as to prevent mixing of package versions from different sources.
On the chance that it doesn’t, this should be easy to undo, but I’m afraid I don’t have any brighter ideas, so you’ll have to wait for further assistance. Good luck.
Sorry - should read xulrunner, and I get the impression there are a few packages. I suppose update them all to the same version and see what happens… But it might be advised to wait for someone who has had this problem to advise.
Hi
I have managed to get Firefox to launch. I went into Yast and downloaded and installed a whole series of patches. I saw ‘xulrunner’ amongst them.
Thank you for all your help.
No worries - glad it works.
Wow, thanks Akoellh
it works…
