Firefox podcasts play--won't download

Weirdest thing: I was downloading a number of podcasts (.mp3) from a site. After I got three downloaded, Firefox suddenly started playing the podcast rather than asking me if I wanted to download it. Edit/Preferences/Application still shows “Always ask” for mp3 audio and mp3 file. Podcast says “Preview in Firefox,” but doesn’t give me an option to download.

What could have happened? The only thing I can think of is that between the downloads I opened Liferea, which I haven’t used before, but decided against trying to use it now and reclosed it.

Could that have changed Firefox somehow? If so, how do I undo that?

(Rt-click -> Save Link As does the download. But I’d still like to know what happened to the Download option with a L-click.)

Thanks.

Just a “wild-guess” -> firefox’s user profiles was messed up.

Try to run Firefox from another system user and see what happens with .mp3
files.
