Using XFCE
Firefox opens with a blank white page.

Otherwise everything else works. Any solution suggestions?

A good problem description has three elements:

1. what one did;
2. what one expected;
3. what one got instead.

As I see it #2 is missing. I myself do expect a blank page when starting Firefox, simply because I configured Firefox to do so. What did you configure and/or expect?

Correction and my apology. It’s not Firefox that opens a blank page. The blank page starts when the computer is turned on and I log in. I expected the usual colored page with available software showing.

Do you mean that instead of showing your desktop it is showing a blank screen?

Assuming that that is what you want to say.
Did you get the normal login screen after boot (and then used it)?

Is that direct after a fresh installation? When not, was there an update done? Or any other action directly before this shows? Or is it just happening from “yesterday alright” into “today wrong”?

I assume you understand that most people do not have this problem from one moment to the other. Thus I can assume that you understand that you must explain as much as possible about the circumstances around this phenomenon. And your info is a bit meager.

BTW, it would be better when the title of this topic was changed and the whole was moved to Install/Boot/Login.

Firefox has nothing to do with this.

The only thing that shows is the panel.
I get the normal login screen and I use it.
Yes it was a re-installation on an SSD that also has two other distros. At a certain point the other distros would boot but not 15.6 with a black screen showing and no keyboard or mouse activity, requiring a reboot. The other distros boot normally with no errors or warnings. If you don’t see an obvious cause don’t waste your time on it. I keep my data on a separate drive so I can re-install without any data loss. It’s just annoying to not know the cause.

I managed to set the wallpaper via terminal.
