Firefox freezes everytime I leave a page with flash on it.

This is quite a big problem, I can load a page with Flash Player (insert whatever here), but there’s not sound from firefox, and then when I try to leave that page (Back button, different link, etc) firefox freezes, forcing me to terminate it.

Any idea? I have OpenSUSE 11.4 KDE. Any more information needed, just ask.

Does Google Chrome or “Konkeror” (kde native browser?) does the same problem?

Do you have the latest Firefox version?

Are you using adobe flash propietary plugin or the opensourse alternatives?

You can try to run firefox from a terminal window, so when firefox freezes you will see some error that guides you better to a solution…

Tried LibreOffice? Do that and help at http://is.gd/dZ9j2W
[NNTP via openSUSE 11.3 + KDE4.5.5 + Thunderbird3.1.8]

From a terminal window run

pkill -9 npviewer

I recall that yesterday’s updates to my 11.4 KDE included an update of Flash Player to 10.2.135.1-0.4.1

Until that update I’d had no problems using Chrome and Flash, but now I’ve just gone to a page that contains a small Flash element. When the page closes the element remains on screen and shows on top of any portion of any window that does not contain either a graphic or a background color.

Perhaps the OP has just received the same update (?)

I’ve only just discovered this problem and will post again if I find any information of value when I’ve had time to check it out more thoroughly.

Additional data:

Problem is very similar with Firefox, however I didn’t experience the freeze-up described by the OP

Only way I can recover is init 3 then init 5

pkill -9 npviewer

does not appear to do anything

Feels like a buggy update to me

Further info:

I just rolled back my flash-player to 10.2.152.26-2.1 and my browsers are behaving fine again.

Yes, I have system freezes in 11.2 and sometimes I have to reboot as well. Just today trying to play an mp3 in VLC froze the system (11.2)?
But I also have a Firefox freeze problem in 11.2 and if I can get to a terminal session pkill -9 npviewer allows me to continue with Firefox.
