Firefox fonts don’t appear to adhere to system settings or firefox font settings themselves.
For example - take a look at this page in Opensuse 11.1 KDE 4.2.1
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/8245/firefox.th.jpeg](http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=firefox.jpeg)
then compare with same page in windosxp
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/7382/firefoxwin.th.jpeg](http://img13.imageshack.us/my.php?image=firefoxwin.jpeg)
Clearly the XP font looks much better with the Opensuse fonts having very bad spacing.
Here are my firefox fonts settings
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/9809/firefoxfonts.th.jpg](http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?image=firefoxfonts.jpg)
my KDE font settings
http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/1478/kdefonts.th.jpeg](http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kdefonts.jpeg)
None of these appear to have any bearing on how things look in firefox on Opensuse.
Checked on my brothers Mac and fonts look great.
Here’s the address of the page I used for the example
New Zealand, world, sport, business & entertainment news on Stuff.co.nz
sorry - here are my GTK font settings as well (what with Firefox being a GTK app)
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4187/kdegtk.th.jpeg](http://img11.imageshack.us/my.php?image=kdegtk.jpeg)
And here is how the page looks in Konqueror 4.2.1
http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7293/konquerorfonts.th.jpg](http://img7.imageshack.us/my.php?image=konquerorfonts.jpg)
the screengrab of Konqueror isn’t the best.
While konqueror 4.2.1 is still essentially an unusable app at the moment it clearly renders fonts much better than firefox.
hmmm . . .looks as if there are some problems with imageshack and my images not loading if clicking on the thumbnails.
I’ll check this out when I get home from work later.
OK - had to reupload the images to imageshack to get them to work - not sure what happened there.
Here is the original post with images that work
