Out of memory?
You mean your home partition is full I guess… This could of course affect your normal user as well.
Please post the output of “df -h”.
And have you tried to run Firefox as the other user? Since it is Firefox that crashes, not Chrome… Or am I misunderstanding something here?

Thanks for the replies.
I downloaded the 13.1 to DVD - failed to install twice. Seems to be a kernel issue reported - not sure as only a DOS type screen provided - with text stating kernel version.
I reinstalled v12.3 as the crashing was causing the desktop to fail too - had to hard power down the PC - that is, pull the mains plug.
v12.3 is working no issue.
Since others do not have this issue - will await to see if they surface with others later as v13.1 is deployed - memory checked out ok.

Graphics card is Intel based - part of the processor - so not a bespoke self contained video card.
PC is a Dell purchased earlier this year - removed the Windows 8 hd and put in a 1TB and loaded Opensuse v12.3
