Firefox keeps crashing when I try to play video. It used to crash when I used old version 3.0 and it still crashes now in the 3.5 version.
It doesn’t seem to have been a hard drive problem…I have enough space and memory.
With regard to addons, I have java and shockwave flash…and an addon for weather…though i have noticed it used to crash before I had installed any of those…
Process of elimination.
Test FF without any addons. Easy way to test is: Close FF and to rename .mozilla to .mozilla-old
Start FF again
test playing video
I did the rename. Video test fails. :’(
The rename resulted in wiping out all my bookmarks! How do I get them back?? I tried to rename it back but I can only find .mozilla and not .mozilla-old
okay… so i finally found the .mozilla-old file …i dont know why i couldn’t place it before…but anyway i changed it back to .mozilla, correctly with the periods, but unfortunately my bookmarks are not back.
i tried the terminal command firefox…and it opened the old firefox. but when i try to play the video on youtube…the area where the video comes turns grey or just remains black and the browser basically freezes out… so i have to, as linux says, “kill it”… anyway here is the text in between…hope it says something…

so…i tried this several times…once the video did play…but actually the video concerned was one of those that just had lyrics coming in like a slideshow and the particular song…so to say, it didn’t actually have a “video” per se. so i clicked on another video which apparently did have a “video” and then FF finally crashed. anyway, i copied the text for this too…and i guess the last line specifically is different saying “Segmentation fault” rather than me killing it. Here is the text…

I tried the bookmark suggestion via Organize Bookmarks but the json file is not visible there. I even right clicked and selected -show hidden files- but no change. However when I enter the BookmarkBackups folder in my File Manager - I can see several json files in there! So I tried to right click on those and use Open With FF but that didn’t work.
well, i renamed .mozilla-old back to .mozilla and so right now i am looking at the .mozilla folder which should include the latest bookmarks.
what about the repository list with the command zypper lr -d? do i need to add/del something there?
as far as the json file type selection goes, there is no option. only html is preselected, and nothing else is there to choose. Even when I go to Organize Bookmarks and then to Import and Backup, FF asks me Import HTML -> Import from an HTML file before my home directory opens up. There is NO OPTION for json, unfortunately. Also, I am sure I am in the home directory, so I am in the correct folder. I checked again with File Manager to be sure. Maybe I need to convert the json to html for FF to recognize it or something??
