Hello,
In just the last few days Firefox frequently goes into 2-5 second stalls, and then proceeds on until it stalls again. The stalls are usually shortly after going to a new site or opening another page on a site you are on (like eBay), but probably not limited to that. The little round, red progress arrow in the tab just stops for the few seconds, and then resumes again. It happens pretty much continuously, and makes browsing a real problem. I did open up Konqueror to try as a browser, and it does not seem to exhibit this stalling problem (so I figure it is not likely my system or setup). The system worked just fine up until a few days ago.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’ve been waiting for a Firefox bug fix to appear at my system, but no luck. I am about ready to give up and move to Google Chrome, but I would prefer not to. I really like Firefox, but not like this.

I’m posting from my phone (while travelling), so can only be brief. Check for a problematic plugin. Disable one by one and check behaviour. You can also start Firefox in safe mode (via terminal) for diagnostic purposes. Hope that’s enough to help you make progress.
BTW, which version of FF are you using?
I have witnessed something similar on Tumbleweed and Firefox 39.0.0, but it seems gone after updating to Firefox 39.0.3.
Maybe it is worth a try…
Hello,
Went to the Firefox menu (upper right icon) and went to ‘add ons’ then ‘plugins’. Disabled the 5 plugins one by one, and no improvement.
How do I find the Firefox version?? I am on the standard update path via automatic updates, and have installed all fixes and updates. I looked under properties (rt click firefox icon), but nothing useful there to identify version. When I clicked on the ‘check to see if your plugins are up to date’, Firefox says I am on a downlevel version, and that the flash player is vulnerable (version 11.2.202.491). It seems like the standard upgrade path is often downlevel on Firefox (and flash player).

Firefox version is 39.0 !!!
Thanks for the tip - still took a while to find it… Guess I’ve not taken advantage of ‘help’ before.
An upgrade of Firefox and Flash Player was released yesterday via the standard upgrade path. I was hoping this would resolve my stalling problem, but it has not. Any suggestions??

I am trying to load up Chrome to see if that helps, but it seems that ‘packagekit’ is constantly running, locking out any other install activity. Could this be the source of my system stalling, and how can I fix it if it is??
Thanks – Roger
Looks like the problem was easy to fix. Went to Firefox - Support. They have a refresh feature that saves all of your personal info but refreshes your Firefox install. Quick to implement and the system is perky again. Don’t know what happened to slow things down, but it seems to be gone now.
