Whenever i go to this website http://leavetheworldbehind.com/ in firefox, my CPU fan goes crazy and i look in the System Monitor and see firefox consuming 99% CPU.
I’ve tried the same webite on Chrome and it idles at 3-4% CPU.
I thought maybe flash was to blame, but it’s the actual Firefox process that is using all the CPU power, not the plugin-container process.
The site is not malicious or anything, i think it’s just a bug with Firefox or maybe i’m missing a plugin from firefox.
I tried the site. No problem. But then, I am using “noscript”.
I allowed scripting from “leavetheworldbehind.com”, and firefox shot up to 70% cpu. It was not flash, because I am using “flashblock” to stop that.
It looks like a javascript loop.
That it is fine in chrome, but not firefox, does not prove that it is a firefox bug. It is quite possible that the site is looking at browser identification and using different javascript for chrome.
Think of Firefox as an apple, Chrome as an orange. Should not be compared.
Firefox use the Gecko rendering engine. Chrome uses the Blink rendering engine.
Firefox uses one process and a plugin-container. Chrome uses multiple processes. I see seven running with my home page open in Chrome. Same with your link.
Why is Firefox using so much CPU? The site is a poorly designed resource hog.
Can’t dismiss the Flash window even after clicking the x.

No, it is not plugin-container. That’s just a sort of wrapper that runs
something else, like flash, which is the actual hog.

I don’t know of a way to find out which script is hogging resources. Or
which tab. Then kill just that one.
