FIREFOX CAN'T SAVE IMAGES ON RIGHT CLICK

OPENSUSE 11.2 KDE - I love this distro , but a minor problem …i am using firefox 3.6 version ,firefox doesn’t show save window when i right click on a wallpaper or image and then I click save image button, so i have to do “CTRL+S” to save an image.this was an issue with the version 3.5.7 too.i thought upgrading from YaST would solve the problem , but it didn’t.GOOGLE CHROME UNSTABLE, KONQUEROR & EPIPHANY BROWSERS DON’T HAVE THIS ISSUE…

right click save image as
is working here

have you tried a new .mozilla profile?

no how to do it ?

I am a new Bee TO LINUX DISTROS , so if would Please elaborate ?

With FF closed
In file manager
view hidden files

look for .mozilla and rename it to .mozilla-old

When you start FF it will be like new, use it without adding to it (extensions etc…) and see if it has the option to right click

I have tried what you have told me to do,I got the new profile running , even then the same problem continues,I can see the same “Save Image As” button ,but when I click it the saving location window doesn’t pop-up, same problem,I also have completely uninstalled and reinstalled it , even then the same issue is continuing , chrome, epiphany, konqueror , all are working fine.
I love openSUSE 11.2, this is just a small bug, i suppose, all I have to do is press - CTRL+S, but I have the habbit of using the right click option often.
please respond if you have any new solution…

Well, I’m experiencing that problem too. Launched Firefox from Konsole and saw some Gnome themes related warning messages. So I had to change the theme in System Settings -> Looks (naming might not be acurate, translating from spanish  -> GTK styles and change the style to a working one.

Good luck.

@protagonistmohit

I am confused by all your PM’s and it is generally better to put you messages to me here so everyone can benefit.
If you start a new profile and that didn’t solve it, it’s very odd if you ask me, because by default the FF settings would allow you to do this.

Then you followed my advice to check ‘Always ask where to save’ and you said it worked and then it doesn’t again.

You are just missing something simple.

I attach here your PM’s

THANKS FOR REPLYING, NO IT ISN’T , I HAVE SELECTED A DIFFERENT FOLDER AS THE SAVING LOCATION FOR MY OWN CONVENIENCE.BUT I DIDN’T USED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN UBUNTU 9.04, 9.10 & MINT 8.0. WELL I WILL CLICK ON WHAT YOU HAVE SUGGESTED.ANY WAY APART FROM THIS GLITCH, openSUSE11.2(as this is my first SUSE distro) is awesome, way better than ubuntu series. I love KDE.
THANKS AGAIN.
IF THIS SOLVES THE ISSUE THEN I WILL INFORM YOU ABOUT IT.

I have already told you you’re a “GENIUS”.
Thanks issue resolved.
With your suggestion, now FF shows the pop up window of saving location.
Hats off to you…

Nope same problem ............ again sorry for troubling you again.

FF can’t save images…

PLS HELP . SAME ISSUE …

give us a link to a image in question, so long as it’s clean;)

This is a common issue with Firefox.
Solution is simple as Carl mentioned above.
Rename the .mozilla dir to .mozilla-old and now start Firefox, every thing should go well.

Not so sure, why it is not working in your case, Does you tried it this way?

Its a strange issue which I have never faced especially this is my first issue with FireFox…

Thanks for replying ,…

I tried a new Mozilla profile for you and I get the same as you describe. But my configured .mozilla works fine
So it’s just a setting
Let me see if I can nail it down

Do you have it set like this
http://thumbnails23.imagebam.com/6781/c6876267800792.gif](http://www.imagebam.com/image/c6876267800792)

I saw a similar behavior right just after installation of 11.2
(did a fresh install 3 days ago to a new machine)
Had also trouble updating through the updater applet
After completing updates through Yast, FF seems to work
w/o glitches

That might be an issue of the relatively new KDE-integration of Firefox.

Please check wether ‘mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4’ (for FF 3.5.7) or ‘mozilla-kde4-integration’ (for FF 3.6) are installed.

That is indeed normally the problem, both packages make save File dialogs not work.
It can be fixed by removing them

I’d rather check if they are actually installed. That KDE4-integration is a wonderful thing and works smooth over here.

Not for me, I got rid of them because of this issue

If my understanding is correct, will this issue be ironed out in a future update as a known bug or do we need to raise a a bug against this… if you get what I’m saying?

edit Oh and yes I have the KDE integration: mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4 running on my setup.
