Hello!
i use firefox for a long time, but today in opensuse he just stoped working without any reasonable reason! The only page he opens from now on is my default page… when i try to go to other ones appears this error message: “by the way the server is redirecting you, you will never reach your destination” or something like that. After this, says that this may be caused by blocked cookies… the problem is with my firefox, cause konqueror is working ok!
how can i fix this??
thanks
Check that from the file menu in FF ‘work offline’ is not checked
no, is not
Same problem here. My error messages look something like
You have chose to open MapClick.php with is a PHP script from http://forecast.weather.gov
These clues indicate to me that Firefox lost its database which maps file types to programs. By the way, Firefox was upgraded recently.
Also, Firefox was marked on-line.
I am running the 64 bit version of openSUSE. I tried
firefox
from the command line and Firefox worked as expected. I then tried Firefox from the SUSE menu. Works. Then I tried from the icon on my KDE4 panel. Works.
I’m clueless what was broken and what fixed the issue.
i tried to do as you did, but here the problem continue…but as long as its happening since the last update, probably is a new bug.
Try renaming the .mozilla folder to .mozilla_backup
Try starting FF again
Things are broken again. One thing I failed to notice is when I started Firefox from the command line, I had the error message
*** nss-shared-helper: Shared database disabled (set NSS_USE_SHARED_DB to enable).
The other thing I have noticed is it seems Goggle has hijacked many of my pages. And sometimes it goes to strange pages.
What version of openSUSE to you have? I have 11.2, X64_86. Firefox is version 3.5.7 (64 bit). Curiously, another machine with 32 bit OS and Firefox works fine.
Of course, Konquer works OK.
Doesn’t fix the issues here.
Create a new user
login with it
do you still have the issue?
The behavior I’m seeing is total strange. I’ll often see a page “Here we are! ;)” This seems to be a broken release.
Different errors with the new user account. Here, every time I click on the “home” button, I get a new tab for “http://www.opensuse.org/en”. Clutters the tab bar. Pages seem to load OK.
On my normal account, I downgraded to Firefox 3.5.6. I experienced issues like I have experienced before.

Mine is the same opensuse version, but 32bit!

actually i’m almost giving up of FF. I just installed Opera, is working fine… who knows if FF come back to work in the next update =/
It sure is confusing DD
Especially since FF works flawlessly for me and I’m not aware of any bugs here.
Are you using the FF build service repo?
yep! any clue??
Did we get you to use the swicher on the repo in software management

No, how can i do that? just to make a test i tried downloading the firefox from his own website and just extract the tar.bz2 file. Doing like this, without installing in the system, he worked with no problems. I was using the 3.6 version of FF. I noticed that the version of the repos is the 3.5.x. How can i install from the repos the last version, which seems to work perfectly?
