When I go on Windows and create a backup *.json file for my bookmarks so I can import them into openSUSE, and try to import them to the Firefox on openSUSE, it doesn’t recognize the file. The computer also treats it as a plain text file. This is surprising because it worked fine on Ubuntu. If it’s of any note, my Ubuntu uses GNOME while my openSUSE uses KDE 4.
I’m not sure of the technicalities but I always use html for saving bookmarks.
I notice though if I go to Manage Bookmarks I can also proceed as if to add a JSON. I didn’t try it.
I actually normally import whole profiles from one install to the next.
Okay, I’ll try HTML!
Might want to skip all the export / import business with Foxmarks?

I use this on all my machines no matter which O/S.
It has recently changed name to Xmarks though.
