When using Firefox to play Flash videos on sites such as YouTube, after a certain number of videos the box where the video would play would turn gray. Further attempts to watch other Flash videos would be in vain, and the browser would have to be restarted to resume Flash functionality. This happened several times to my frustration, and because I wanted to investigate the problem, I decided to run Firefox in a terminal and analyze the output. I observed that each time the gray box would appear on Flash websites, it would print the statement NPP_CLOSED: Connection Closed.
I have tried other browsers such as SeaMonkey and have seen that it is more Flash-robust, but after “too many” Flash videos, it would suffer the same problem as Firefox, and I would be forced to restart the browser to continue viewing Flash videos.
I have had this issue with Firefox and Flash since 10.3.
