I’m not sure if firefox is the problem. On the website for playonlinux, I can press the login button, but the register button won’t work.
Can someone tell if it’s a firefox bug or a website error?

i don’t see a “register button”…i see a “Login” button and a
“Register” link below the “Login” button, but no “Register” button…
so what are you talking about? ok, i GUESS you want to register…so, i
fill in the register blanks and then click the “Check your email”
button right below the fill in blanks, then i go to my mail client and
find the new mail from PlayOnLinux, and copy paste the enclosed code
into the “Code received on your mailbox:” blank which opened up after i
clicked on “Check your email”, and THEN i press the “Register” button
(which aslo appeared after i clicked on “Check your email”)…
and then, when i click on Register with the code block filled in, the
site replies: “Welcome! You are now registered”
neither a firefox 5.0 or website bug seen here–so, i guess it is a user
fault there.

There is a button, but it doesn’t work. Like I said.

Nope, does nothing. I filled out everything in the form, many times. No email or effect of any kind when I press the button. Java script is on.

Nope, I repeat firefox bug or website bug. Someone tell which?
Have you tried using a different web browser? If I have problems with Firefox I try Konqueror (I use KDE) and if that’s not working I try Opera.
Used Konquerer and Opera in suse, tried firefox in mswin. No effect. Disabled addons in suse firefox. Nothing. They say it works for some others.

as mentioned, the total registration process at PlayOnLinux works
perfectly with firefox 5, in kde4.6.0, on openSUSE 11.4…of course, you
must provide an active email address, and confirm it is yours by
providing the code back to the registration page in the usual manner…
i’d guess that @asarge or anyone else could confirm this also…

Checked all the data entered many times over. I’v entered the same data about 20-30 times. It’s correct.
I have the latest suse 11.4 updates. The webmaster confirmed the email is not being sent. I’v tried it in two different OS’s and three different browsers. It looks like a website bug to me.

just for fun, PM me with the login, password and email address you
want placed in the register grid…let me try to put them in here,
using my apparently bug free firefox…and lets see if you get that
confirming email then…
if you do then you can complete the process and immediately change the
password…
how is that?

Funny…
You see if you make a an account and see what happens. For, now I wait for them to fix it.

i already told you…i made an account on the 18th, no problem at
all…easy peasy.
the trouble is on your end of the internet–not the web site’s end.

I can’t be the only one. Anyone else post here if your having problems registering on playonlinux.
What do you use to register? OS, browser, addons to browser, etc. Any info that might give a clue why it works for you.
… I may to repost this for a different title(playonlinux register error with firefox).
I have just registered and had no trouble.
I’m using (according to “my computer”)
Firefox 5.0
OS: Linux 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop x86_64
System: openSUSE 11.4 (x86_64)
KDE: 4.6.5 (4.6.5) “release 8”

sorry if this sounds a little gruff, but you need to pay attention…i
say that because i already told you all of those things, in my first
post to you in this thread on the 18th, two days ago…but instead of
listening (reading, understanding and acting) you wanted to prove the
helper (me) wrong with: “Nope, I repeat firefox bug or website bug.”
next, from reading other problems you have going on (see
http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=462572 for example) i
guess your linux system is so broken that you will not find a smile by
just using top to catch who is at the top of the list when you have your
next “keyboard stall”…
now, how it got so messed up i do not know…but i guess a lack of
experience with Linux/openSUSE may have played a part…do you think,
from your point of view, that that might be true?
if so, you need to focus on the fact that “free” software comes with a
price…and, the price is your responsibility to learn the correct way
to feed and care for the system…
and, there are lots of folks here willing to help you with that, but
have to read carefully the help responses you get…

I didn’t mean any offense. I’v read everything you said. I’v done register dozens of times in many websites. I’m very familiar what you need to do. The button does nothing. No email is sent. The webmaster verified that. That’s means something is different about your system from mine. Register (type) button: “check email”. So, what is it?

Search “javascript” and “java” in pkg mgr. Post here, thanks.
What command would be best to use to get this list? I have to go to work now, so I can’t spend any time googling.
I thought you would know.
yast->software management-> search: java and javascript -> right-click-> export to text file. The version numbers should give a clue.
When I exit firefox, I get a java plugin error sometimes.
Are you using NoScript with Firefox? You have to set it to allow www.playonlinux.com for the check email button to work.
I mentioned that I think. I enabled all the scripts then disabled the plugin, no effect. I disabled adblock, no effect.
I’v tried opera and kconquerer in suse. I’v tried it in mswin(xp) firefox 5.0, no effect. I have no idea of the cause or how to fix it. The webmaster verified the email is not sent.
So no browser works for you on that page? Have you had problems with javascript on any other sites?
There is nothing wrong with either the web page or Firefox 5.0; I had the same symptoms as you until I told NoScript to allow scripts from the site, after which I had no problem registering.
How about this:
Firefox>Preferences>Contents Enable Java is that checked? or unchecked? You may need to have that box checked.
