[firefox 46] crashes on certain sites

I experience some crashes using firefox 46 (in safe mode or not) → souncloud can not be open and some sites causes firefox to crash without any error messages…

I went to the firefox support site but have no news (the issue appeared straight after updated firefox) it works on 12.2 opensuse with 45.0.2 version. I’m waiting since three weeks for a enhancement of the situation.

I’m very pissed up because I WORK with soundcloud, mixcloud and some artists web site are crashing firefox… I don’t know how fix that (I cleared caches, removed application, reinstalled it, removed add-ons, etc…) tested with another user, different than root… no way.

Firefox 45 should still be in the repos. As a check, you could install that. Then test whether you still have problems.

Maybe check Yast Software Management, and look at history. Or look at “/var/log/zypp/history”. Check what else was updated at the same time as firefox and that could be related. And revert them all to the prior version.

Firefox needs gstreamer for multimedia support and the gstreamer that comes from OSS is crippeled by design, have you done a full vendor change to packman to get the unrestricted media codecs?
what’s your repo list

zypper lr -d

do you happen to have freshplayerplugin installed with pepperflash installed as it crashes on some sites

zypper se -si freshplayerplugin

I knew how to downgrade from repository… but I didn’t noted it somewhere :{

I already removed firefox but when installing again (from repo) it put the 46.0 straight :{

try doing a full vendor change with packman

sudo zypper dup --from 10

I tested soundcloud on Firefox 46 and I had no issues, I also tested the static Firefox from mozilla that one worked too, it might be a graphic card issue, try disabling acceleration?
it might be one of your addons, personally I have a lot of addons (20+) and I have no issues, I have no experience with AMD graphic cards I do remember there was a kernel update for 13.2 did you update your video driver, did AMD update their driver?

You are probably right I did not updated the amd driver… some web applications uses opengl stuff… I go back and tell you what happened.

I say that because I tried firefox on another 13.2 with firefox 46 on a intel based laptop → it worked.

Same thing for LEAP… it worked.

In fact it doesn’t work even if hardware acceleration is off. I did the same with all plugins, (safe mode of firefox and manually) → it still crashing.

I uninstalled the whole stuff (in plugins and addons) to be sure (as apparently the “safe mode” didn’t set the hw acceleration off) → issue solved.

The safe mode seems to be not enough sufficient (as I expected this mode to set off addons as plugins and default settings) !!
