Firefox 4 looks

I don’t like the looks of Firefox 4.

The placement of the tabs is confusing to me, I look for them where they
where in FF 3, but they are not there. Perhaps I get grumpier with age.

Some times devs thought of leaving an “old looks” option. Did they this
time, anywhere I can click and have the looks of FF 3? At least the tabs.

Hola Carlos,

I am not sure if you are talking of the new “tabs on top”/“menu button on the left” style similar to Chrome and Opera. If that’s it, you can revert to the old Firefox 3.6 look by selecting the “Menu bar” to be visible, just as you would select the Bookmark or Navigation toolbars (i.e., by right-clicking anywhere on the top of Firefox’s interface and ticking “Menu bar”). That causes the old File | Edit | View | etc. row to show up.

I hope that’s the answer you were looking for

Yes, it takes a bit of getting used to. (I installed it on a couple of Windows machines, but not yet on my openSUSE laptops).

Anyway, maybe this will work for you as far as the tabs go

Firefox icon>>Options>>enable ‘Menu Bar’ and disable ‘Tabs on Top’

AH! It never occurred to me, I looked in preferences. I never right-clicked
up there.

“Taps on top” off, that’s what deano said, but I didn’t understand where.

Thank you both!

that happens! change for the sake of change becomes less and less
acceptable.

I think Firefox looks much better with tabs on top, the menu bar removed from view, using the Strata RELOADED 2.6.6 Firefox theme, and the Gnome Quiet Human theme with Sonar theme controls.

:good:

Well sorry to say but all browsers seem to be going this way, including IE.
Luckily opera and firefox can be made to use a more traditional IE6 like interface.
Personally I am very mixed on the compact browser thing, its both good and bad.
On one hand it saves screen space for certain people, on the other hand some of the UI designs are unintuitive for older users (heres looking at you IE9 and chrome)
