I tried to install firefox 3 on a different manner (copy the files
to its directory)
I would like to create a short cut of firefox on my desktop and at the
start menu, because i run my firefox in the shell like: ./firefox
Assuming Gnome since you didn’t specify… right-click, Create Launcher.

Desktop shortcut:
Just drag the firefox icon from file manager and drop it onto Folder
View plasmoid. A small menu pops up. Select “Link here”
Menu shortcut:
Right click on start menu icon → Menu Editor → select a
category/sub-category → click New Item in the top menu → Give a name
and put path/to/firefox in Command field. Click Save.
Once done right click on the icon in start menu and click “Add to
Favorites” to make it appear under favorites list.
