Firefox 3.5.5 stops saving "Save Image As"

Sometimes during and or when I open a Firefox session and I right click an image and select “Save Image As” nothing happens meaning no file window opens to save the image. To allow firefox to save an image I have to exit out of it and reopen it.

Since I have ran a couple difference distributions over the past week and I have not had this issue before then I am pretty sure it is an OpenSuse only issue.

Also another Opensuse issue only in firefox seems to be the inline spell check is underlining words at random that are spelled correctly and incorrectly. Anyone know how to fix that?

Any help in fixing and/or the proper place to reporting the bugs would be awsome!

OpenSuSe 11.2 KDE 4.3.1 Firefox 3.5.5

I just tried it, and am finding “Save Image as” does nothing like you say. What I can do is view image and get the URI to then select and drag onto the Kget drop target.

Are you willing to report the bug?

This has already been reported at https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557598

Inline spell check was set to Italian as default spell check language. I did not realize it until I went to submit a bug for it.

I found a work around for the image issue I installed an add on “Image Toolbar 0.6.6” and it works
even when the right click menu will not work.

Thank you for documenting that in Bugzilla!

I think its related to mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4, removing it solves the problem.

But the kde look in Opensuse 11.2 is so awesome.

Removing mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4 wont remove KDE looks from anything, other then the save dialog in firefox.
It will still theme with the rest of KDE, but save dialogs will revert back to GTK.
No big deal though as its how it was in 11.1, and I have no issues with the GTK save file dialog

The right solution is an update to the FF KDE integration, it’s a feature of the project!

I was having the same problem on my system with OS 11.2x64 + KDE, so I tried your suggestion. Removing the package mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4 in Yast worked. Good work around until they get around to dealing with the bug.

Another workaround I’ve found is to drag the image by a few pixels just long enough to initiate the drag/drop and then try the Save Image As… context menu item on the image again. But this is not 100% effective, though.

For Firefox 3.6.12-1.1 On KDE3.5 on openSuSE 11.1 mozilla-kde4-integration 0.6.2-14.2 stops the save dialogue and results in a KDE 3.5 crash.

I do not know why but this is a define go/no go result by removing mozilla-kde4-integration with Yast the save dialogue re appears. This problem started at least 2 weeks ago.

Are you certain this behavior applies to all images?

It’s possible for a web developer or webadmin to disable saving images to discourage unauthorized use of a copyrighted or otherwise protected image.

Of course, FF should never actually crash if coded properly…

I’m a newbie here, crusing threads and trying to learn.
This one caught my eye because it’s been happening to me also, with Firefox 3.6.10, that the “save image as” box does not come up from a right click select.
