Firefox 3.5.2 strangeness

after installing of Firefox 3.5.2 from “openSUSE BuildService - Mozilla” repo i noticed some strange things with some of images’ colors. They look somewhat inverted i’d say
i made a screenshot but don’t know, how attach it here.
does anyone also have such effect?

You can upload image here:
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing
and paste the BBcode here.

I never face this issue in FF. Maybe after the image we can find any solution.

here it goes.

Which theme you are using.
Did you tried it in different theme?

theme? in kde settings i have “QtCurve” selected. otherwise everything is default.

I mean FF theme not KDE theme.
You can find it in Tools -> Add Ons -> Themes.

OR you can install any from firefox addons site.

same there. but funny thing is that images in that dialog are also inverted. ha-ha.

so no one met this before? then i’m the only lucky man here. :frowning:

Hmm, may sound like a strange idea,
but I would try turning off desktop effects.

Run systemsettings, uncheck ‘Enable desktop effects’.

Nothing strange.
Reset the Color Correction/Desktop Gamma/Digital Vibration back to hardware defaults.

Same problem here, the colors is mistaken after update firefox from build service repo

I get the same problem here

looks that way!
wonder why yours is special?
what version OS and DE? if KDE, which version?
graphics card? GNU or proprietary driver?

well, actually now that i think about it, since you are on the
bleeding edge Firefox, maybe you just need to log a bug…but, THEY
will need to know all your particulars…

and, you may need to replace the version from the build service with
the original from mozilla…to see if you get it both places…that
is, it COULD be a problem only in the build service’s version…

No, original poster seems to be not the only one.

since you are on the bleeding edge Firefox
As far as I know 3.5.2 is latest stable version,
I don’t think it is ‘bleeding edge’. I write this now from 3.5.2
and see no colour problems. Though, I use KDE 3.5 (openSUSE 11.1).

I’d suggest trying to temporarily revert to version 3.0.*
and check, whether this bug is still seen.
(The simplest way is to disable Mozilla repository
and downgrade to the version in default repository.)

Maybe, also try opening another GTK (Gnome) application,
i.e. Gimp - open some color photo in it ans watch for colour distortions.

i tried that trick with Gimp. it worked like charm.

You mean you get no distortions in Gimp?
Ho about temporarily downgrading to Firefox 3.0?
Do you still get distortions there?

in ff 3.0.12 pictures are fine.

I suppose you are working in the same ff user-profile for both ff3.0 and ff3.5? In the past I had some issues with this when upgrading.
Try creating a new, clean ff3.5 profile by invocing the “profile manager”. Close all instances of firefox and type in Konsole:

# firefox -P

Create a new profile and launch it. Are the colours still inverted?

(afterwards you can use the profile manager again to return to the “default” profile)

even with new profile problem persists. where should i file bugreport?
