I have upgraded three machines from 15.1 to 15.2, mostly smoothly, but the last one has a problem that I can’t find information on.
When I run a browser (firefox, opera, chrome) or email client (thunderbird) I get various error output depending on the application but they all includefips - softokn: crypto test failed aborting
Interestingly, lynx still works.
The only help that I have found was on the SE Linux pages https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=000018555 and that proved unhelpful for an openSUSE installation. The gist of that advice was to add fips=1 to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line in /etc/default/grub and then remake the grub.cfg file etc. I did that but it made no difference.
This problem may have been caused because during the installation I thoughtlessly clicked on enable trusted boot and then had to redo the installation to disable trusted boot for the machine to be able to boot at all. Whether that left stuff lying around that is preventing integrity checking or not I have no idea.
Any advice on how to resolve this (including “just do a clean install” if that’s the right answer) would be gratefully received.
