When upgrading OpenSUSE, I made an encrypted file with all my important data and copied it onto a usb drive. I made sure I was able to decrypt the file then. But now as I try to decrypt it, the .zip file it produces seems to be corrupt or at least doesn’t open properly with Ark. It shows some of the files, but not nearly everything and is accompanied by an error message (no specifics on what error).
I originally encrypted the folder through Konqueror with Actions > Archive & Encrypt Folder on OpenSUSE 10.2.
Can anyone help me or is all hope lost?
You mean you used KGpg?
So did you keep your KGpg config file from your previous install and import it?
What suse ver. are using now and is it kde3 or 4?
Yes, I used KGpg.
The KGpg configuration seems to be untouched (I only formatted the root partition and kept the /home partition).
I’m using OpenSUSE 11.0 with KDE 3.5.
(I only formatted the root partition and kept the /home partition).
OK
It could be corrupt. ! Not necessarily the fault of suse. Flash drives can be like that.
Make sure you have all the various packages like zip, rar, etc…
In kde3 you should be able to right click extract here
