Hi all,
the title might be a bit misleading. I have seen that there is a file with the file name “0” (without quotes) and a file size of 0kb in /. I have this file on all my Tumbleweed installations.
I did a new installation of TW as a Virtual Machine using this snapshot: openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20220317-Media.iso
The file is already existent after the installation. So, I assume it is “normal”.
Anyone knows, what’s the purpose of this file?
Most likely some programming error.
I had not noticed. But, now that you mentioned it, I checked. And yes, the file is there.
Most likely it was caused by a bug in a script that was run during updates.
You could post
ls -l /0
Then everybody can see the details.

This inexplicable zero has been bugging me too.
I concur with others. Result of some scripting error. Not really a problem, but annoying. IMHO you can remove it without getting into problems.
The real question then is: where does it come from. I guess that Mar 4 10:06 is during the system installation.

Nope, definitely not the installation, but some recent update. Earliest I found was from 23-FEB-2022, during the minute the file was created, zypper dup installed the following programs:
