fglrx driver for 11.1?

Been checking the repositories in this thread:

NEWBIES - Suse-11.1 Pre-installation – PLEASE READ - openSUSE Forums

for the ATI drivers every day since 11.1 came out, and still nothing.

I tried installing from the generic ATI download and ran into some trouble, so I figured I’d wait for the 11.1 specific release but… Well, anyone know how long I should expect to wait? I had thought that it would be pretty quick.

I got it working by installing the kernel development and some of the other development package options and then installing as root at a terminal screen in init 3 (single user mode). After running aticonfig --initial and running sax2, everything worked fine.
I had problems installing when running a kde session.

I’m also waiting for the packages, as I gave up using the installer. Does anybody know why it takes ati so long to provide the repository, nvidia has already packages for a while now.
