I settled for a simple dark-blue gradient which is different for all four virtual desktops. And normally the desktop is totally clean except for the Conky and BeClock combo.

This is a very nice thing I found on KDE-look.org. A widget in between simplicity and eye-candy called Application Launcher (QML).
here is my screen for Feb 2012.
The Wallpaper is from Ubuntu (I think it is included in Ubuntu 10.04) and is called “Maraetai before sunrise”. The KDE theme is “Fushigi” which I like very much and the window borders is “Air Black”.
Nothing special, just a simple screeny;)

KDE4.8, I will not trade this openSUSE 12.1 default wallpaper, it is eye refreshing!

The wallpaper auto-rotates and I got them from HowToGeek’s Desktop Fun: Nebula Wallpaper Collection Series 2. They have great theme packs (Win 7) and wallpaper collections there. Add to it the auto-rotating wallpaper feature that comes with KDE (or an easy program install on Gnome) and I get to enjoy all of these wallpapers!

My biggest limitation is that this is on my Thinkpad, which is only 14" of screen real estate. It looks good here, but it looks even more fantastic on my desktop’s 20" monitor!
Pictures on the wallpaper from Reisen, Wissen, Fotografie: Das neue Bild der Erde - GEO.de, grouping desktop with 5 tab groups (best thing since sliced bread) and a simple conky.
Sorry about that… I’ve tried the Forum URL from ImageShack, and the Alt Forum link and neither of them want to work. I’ve tried changing it to public and still no go.
It is very odd indeed. In the statusbar it says that FF is connecting to imageshack and connecting and connecting … Almost as if something were down. Try a different image hoster. shrugs

I wonder what happened… oh well. At least it shows now.
