I see this question pop up a few times on the Ubuntu forums so why not ask it here.
What is your favorite distro next to OpenSuse?
Mine I would say Ubuntu of course, Debian, PCLinux (to a point), and I will throw in Mepis linux too as I still hold it in high regard despite its setbacks.
Well… OpenSuse is not my favourite distro, so I choose not to vote on this one.
Well that is sort of the point to this poll, like the question if you dont like OpenSuse what do you use instead?
At the present I’m using Debian Lenny. I have two systems with it installed.
I hop around quite a bit, but otherwise I am primarily Ubuntu at home (desktop, laptop and server).
I have a 2nd hard drive for my laptop which I use to try things out and for demonstrating things for the computer club meetings.
I have been trying to get openSUSE installed on there either a Milestone (got lucky with M2, but bear of a time trying to get M3 installed) or at this point any version.
I have also played with Fedora on that second hard drive, and also would like to fool around with CentOS for a server at some point.
Now if I were to get ANOTHER computer then I am not sure what I would put on it (or how long it would last)

Arch linux due to its rolling release, Backtrack for pen testing,
starting to look into *BSD recently.
My vote is actually for Linuxmint, which is an Ubuntu derivative but much easier to use for newbies. I set up a friend with it, including an IPCop running in a Virtualbox as a firewall.
One of these nights I’ll try to find the time to write about a tale of trying out 3 distros (openSUSE, Ubuntu, Fedora) on a PPC server.
well,i like mandriva,it’s been nice to me during the while i spent using it,there were some bumps during the journey, but it’s been a pleasant one
also Arch is a good one,it helped me get through tough times with my old PC
Fedora. Currently on my Box. My main work unit however, is my Laptop now.
But Re: Linux Mint
It’s really nice and I have tried it 5, 6, and 7. But only out of interest and experimentation. I have to say, for me at least, it worked perfectly. And as per @ken_yap I agree it’s ideal for newbies. Multi-media just works Out of the Box.
Having said that, for me, openSUSE just works too. And suits my user experience much better.
Fedora I guess, though haven’t touched it since 2 years. I’m mainly a SUSE guy at home and at work…
Mandriva is my other favorite distro. I have tried others to find that openSUSE and Mandriva are for me.
Mine is PCLinux. It’s the one I’d use if there were no Opensuse.
If there were neither of them I’d use Ubuntu.

I am using opensuse for home and work. vritualbox with windows for work is needed for some kind of work that i can not make with linux
next i try debian or mint
next next is RHED or Mandriva
and last is slackware or Gentoo

Arch Linux, but lately it has been TOO cutting-edge for me. (this is why I might move to openSUSE as my main OS and leave Arch for tinkering only)
sabayon
12345678
Ubuntu seems to be really good:\
I chose Ubuntu, PcLinux and other. For other I it would be Sabayon and Puppy Linux. All for desktop operating system’s.
Currently I only have Suse on this computer as well duel booting PC-BSD. I maybe getting a home server set up soon in which case I will be using SME. I want a separate firewall/gateway on an even older computer but I am not sure what Distro I will be using for that…
While Fedora is likely the distribution I would move to if there was no openSUSE, the truth is the only other distribution that I typically keep hanging around (and regularly keep an up to date liveCD) is Sidux. I find that cutting edge liveCD distribution has possibly the best hardware detection in Linux, and I have used it various times when other liveCDs have failed. I believe Sidux is from the “unstable” (sid) branch of Debian, although having stated that, an “unstable” Debian is typically more stable than various other distributions.
[Still - having typed all the above, I AM still a big openSUSE fan]
None.
If SuSE goes the way of the dodo someday, I’ll simply stop using Linux completely.
That won’t be a problem for you as you’re a slave to Jobs Maybe start planning beforehand how to replace all the SUSE server at work with Xserve and pay yourself blue (OMG what a joke!)
