Fan Speed Controller for GX2

Hello,

I’ve been using openSUSE for about 5 hours now and I have to say I am VERY impressed. But I am having an issue. I am using a Nvidia 9800GX2. It gets hot. I tried following this

NVCLOCK SUSE 10.0 HOWTO - openSUSE Forums

but screwed up. Can anyone explain this in more simpler terms. Thanks for the help and sorry for the stupidity.

I have tried this again, but am still somewhat confused by this part:

“make sure you have created symbolic links to /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin for all the binaries in
/usr/lib/qt3/bin”

a link is nothing more than a ‘pointer’ placed in one directory which
gives an address to the actual file somewhere else on the system…

your quoted “make sure you have created symbolic links to /usr/bin or
/usr/local/bin for all the binaries in /usr/lib/qt3/bin”

means to ‘build’ a link in “/usr/bin or /usr/local/bin” which points
to the executable binary files which live in /usr/lib/qt3/bin

you ‘build’ the link using the ln command in a terminal

see man ln
and info ln
and http://rute.2038bug.com/node18.html.gz

hmmmmm, i suppose it might also be done with Konqueror or
Nautilus…but, i’ve never actually tried…(too easy to drop to a
terminal, become root and type a line…)
