failing to boot to graphic mode (only text mode)

I was haveing sopme problems with grub so I did grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg and then grub2-install /dev/sda and it seems all ok it updated the grub and put the nwewst kernel as the highest option - but when I boot it only takes me to the text mode ( but in that text mode everything is just fine ) when I press ctrl+alt+f7 only black screen appears, so I’ve to switch back to text mode

That’s probably a graphics card problem.

I see that on a system with nvidia graphics, where I installed the nvidia driver “the hard way”. Whenever there’s a kernel update, it next boots to text mode. I have to reinstall the nvidia driver before I can get back to graphics mode.

I’ve 4year old thinkpad R500 and I’ve integrated Intel graphic card, but maybe it can be problem with graphic drivers
