I’ve got a laptop with nvidia GT620m graphical card, running 64bit 12.3. Everything is okay but I’d like to use the nvidia card instead of the Intel graphical module.
Thanks vazhavandan, I have reinstalled the driver and added the user to video group. After reboot, it stucks at a frozen screen with th logo. I can’t get the command line mode with ctrl+alt+f1, but have to power off.
Since you have a dual graphic card system search in the forums for
optimus (that’s what nvidia calls that technology), there should be
several threads about it.
You cannot simply install the nvidia driver and expect it to work it
needs special software (primus, bumblebee) to work.

By the way look into the BIOS, the only system I have with optimus has a
setting to disable it there and runs only on nvidia (in that case
installing the nvidia driver is of course enough).

Thanks Martin. I understand bumblebee is the proper way to make use of the nvidia card and I’ve tried it before but without any success. My problem now is to get back to the working system, kde or command line, as the laptop is simply a piece of brick if I don’t use the windows8. I didn’t see any option in the bios/uefi menu either. That’s why I’m desperate to find a way to remove the nvidia driver and recover the machine.
