Failed installed

I have an almost new Lenovo laptop. I tried to install Tumbleweed the screen/video “didn’t work”.

The installation process went smoothly > reboot> sddm asks for the password > start kde and I only get the green “opensuse default” wallpaper.

  • Pressing the Windows key on the keyboard does NOT bring the app launcher
  • alt-f1 did not bring app launcher
  • alt-ctrl-f2 to f6 does not switch to tty …

I ended up installed leap 15.3. I’m still interested in installing Tumbleweed.

Any suggestion?

Try to reboot the machine and check at the sddm login what DM is selected : Plasma Wayland, Plasma X11, or something else ???

It looks like you have not login with plasma or something weird occured. The DM is usually indicated in the bottom of the SDDM login panel and you will have the choice to select another DM if the actual one is in problem. Try to select another one than the actual one.

You can also look in the systemd journal to find errors and gives us clues to help you.
