Failed Boot on RAID 1 Rebuild nVIDIA MediaShield.

I am running openSuSE 11.0 on a GigaByte M52s Mobo with 2 pairs of disks using RAID 1. The first pair of disks contains the OS, the second array the data.

One of the OS disks started getting READ errors so I replaced it. I intercepted the boot and in the MediaShield RAID page set the Rebuils flag on the OS array.

On resuming the boot, the process failed to find /dev/mapper/… for the OS aray and dropped into the Bourne Shell.

If I disconnect the new drive, the system boots with a warning that the array is degraded. Whatever I do though, the array will not rebuild automagically and I cannot find anything using Google to help.
