Factory repositories list?

Hi :slight_smile:

I have messed up a bit in my repos list :frowning:

It is a long story and I’d bet you don’t want to read it all.

Could you paste/give links to repos, that is recommended to have (and more important not to have) for factory version of openSUSE 11.1?

The main problems I’d like to avoid is to have too many repos in the list offering basically the same packages but form different sources and repos, that tries to downgrade my installation (like take me back to KDE 4.1 etc).

zypper ar -t rpm-md http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Qt/openSUSE_11.1 KDE4:Qt

zypper ar -t rpm-md http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1/ KDE4:Desktop

zypper ar -t rpm-md http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Extra-Apps/openSUSE_11.1/ KDE4:Extras

zypper ar -t rpm-md http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_Factory_Desktop/ KDE4:Community
  • Lets star from KDE repos, the ideal list should contain VLC, nvidia, ATI etc repos.
    I’ll try to update this list and later, if this list would became good enough, might be it should be copied to wiki(?), so any new user could use it easily :slight_smile:

I suggest these for kde4.2.
KDE4.2.* (How To Add) Guide. - openSUSE Forums

VLC = No, well only for libdvdcss, then get rid of it
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums

So with the kde4 repo’s all you will have
oss
non-oss
updates
packman
nvidia or ati?

About updates repo. Its one of the problem I’m facing.

E.g I have Index of /update/11.1 (priority 75) with QT4.4… and KDE4:QT (priority 101) with 4.5… I don’t know why, but “update” repo is being selected in yast

Why?

By the way, what does red color version number in YAST mean? Conflict? Too new? Out of sync?

Hey, where is the edit button?

Sorry, I was a bit misinformed, that number = priority. So i have to lower the KDE4: numbers?

Repository Management - openSUSE Forums

KDE4 Name Changes - Making the transition - HowTo - openSUSE Forums

red = downgrade
blue = upgrade

Thanks :slight_smile:

I hope last question today. Does Update if newer version available updates only if new version is in repo with highest priority, or if newest version is in any suitable repo?

Whatever shows up blue will be updated.
But it’s more complicated. I always work in Software Management and do updates there, I never use the updater applet or Online Update.
I filter by repo and mostly do update all in this list if newer ver avail. Sometimes I do Unconditional, usually if there is a mix of red and blue at the same time.
Priority of repo is very important, but basically the Update repo which exists from install is set at 20. I change mine to 99. Everything else is 99, except oss and non-oss which are 120, which is a lower priority by the way.
