Facebook menu bar not working in Opensuse 13.1 Konqueror and Rekonq

Hello!

I noticed that the blue menu bar in Facebook is not working when starting Facebook in Konqueror (webkit) or Rekonq. There is no reaction when clicking on the drop down menu buttons. So I filed a bug report to kdelibs, but they told me it works for other distributions.
I could verify this:
Opensuse 13.1 KDE Live DVD: Facebook menu bar doesn’t work in Konqueror (rekonq is not installed by default)
Kubuntu 13.10 KDE Live DVD: Facebook menu bar works in Rekonq (Konqueror is not installed by default)

Is there a known solution/bug for this problem?

Thank you!

Are you sure that Konqueror is set to use webkit? For me Konqueror works with webkit but not with KHTML.

Is IcedTea installed?

Yes, WebKIT is standard.
Using KHTML, the menu bar works actually, but many other things don’t (chat etc.).

When testing with the Opensuse live-DVD, I didn’t change anything, just started it and opened facebook. There must be some difference to the kubuntu live-DVD. Is there a way to copy the konqueror/rekonq/kdelibs-webkit configuration from one system to the other?

Hm, as far as I know IcedTea is only for Java.

Hello.

Yes it is, probably a stupid suggestion from my side.

Does Flash and javascript work fine otherwise on your system? It is quite a common issue, in my experience, that KHTML does not properly invoke various dynamic links; loading flash works on and off, scroll down menues quite often does not work, and so on. Webkit usually solves this for me, KHTML is standard on my setup due to some lack of features in Webkit.

A bit difficult I would think as they are live-DVDs, are you planning to install openSUSE?

BTW, isn’t Firefox included on the live-DVD, if so how does it behave?

Hej!
Thank you for your answer.
I didn’t have any other issues with Konqueror/Rekonq (webkit) so far on any page, it’s only facebook that doesn’t work for me.

Ok, i forgot to mention: I tested 5 on systems in total:

  • Opensuse 12.3 with KDE SC 4.10 as installed system (i mean, no live, no virtualbox)
  • Opensuse 13.1 with KDE SC 4.11.5 as installed system
  • Opensuse 13.1 with KDE SC 4.13 beta 3 as Virtual box installation
  • Opensuse 13.1 live DVD with KDE SC 4.11 in Virtual box (to make sure I did not mess it up myself in the installation)
  • Kubuntu 13.10 live DVD in Virtual box

It only worked in the Kubuntu live DVD, that’s why I assumed it has something to do with Opensuse.

In Firefox it works on every system.

But before filing a bug I wanted to check if someone else experienced the same.

It’s working fine for me in Konqueror 4.12.3 using both webkit and khtml on openSUSE 13.1
Perhaps an update to KDE 4.12 is needed?

edit: Oh, I see you have already tested with KDE 4.13. I would imagine if it works in 4.12 it would also work in 4.13 so I cannot explain why it works for me and not you.
Just tested my wife’s installation (KDE 4.12 - different hardware) and it works fine there as well.

Thanks for the replies.

Strange…

Could you guys perhaps tell me which user agent string you send with your browser?

Or is there someone who tested the live DVD too?

just using default, which is . . .

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.34 (KHTML, like Gecko) konqueror/4.12.3 Safari/534.34
