Extremely slow and eventually stopping Wifi Connection

Hello

After some Linux abstinence I decided to set up a dualboot with 13.2 once again. The installation worked like a charm, my USB Wifi worked out of the box. I started downloading updates when I noticed that the downloadrate was extremely slow (about 50Kb/s). After some minutes, the download halted altogether The connection was still established, though. I disconnected and tried to reconnect, but the connection couldn’t be established anymore. I rebooted and again there was the slow download, followed by the halt. I switched to Wicked. The same.

My first attempt of troubleshooting was installing Chakra Linux. Exactly the same symptoms.

So, back to OpenSUSE with another Wifi Stick. Exactly the same symptoms.

Then, Chakra with the new stick. Exactly the same symptoms.

Now I begin to suspect that the problem could be with my Router or ISP. Router’s a Technicolor 7200, provider is Unitymedia (cable; IPv6/DS-Lite). Windows 7 (tested with both Wifi sticks), Windows 8, Xbox One, Windows Phone, FirefoxOS, Android - all work like a charm in the network. The Wifi sticks are Linux compatible (Ralink RT3070 and Atheros AR-9170).

So - any ideas or solutions?

Thanks!

I’ve noticed this on 13.1 - for no reason network slowdowns and disconnects 2 to 3 times an hour, while using it. I notice it only when suddenly firefox says “can’t find domain.” Happens to none of my other PC’s (windows). Correct number of “bars” in the wifi applet. I am using OpenDNS as well as NoScript, DisconnectSearch, and HTTPS-Everywhere (in firefox). Linksys WRT54G router for WiFi behind Verizon router to FIOS. No problems noted with wired connections. HP 17-e0 windows8 laptop.

I have used Opensuse for years and years and don’t recall seeing this before 13.1 - but then, I’ve only recently become aware enough of security (things are rapidly changing, as you know) to use things like OpenDNS, etc.
