External Monitor - openSUSE 11.2 KDE

Hi!

I know there are A LOT of threads already about how to setup an external monitor etc, and I’ve also read how it should be done with xrandr.

But here is my problem, first of all, I plug my monitor to the VGA connector on my laptop. The screen gets recognized and a clone of the laptop screen is displayed on the external monitor. It also comes up in hardware info under “Monitor”. But, when I check with xrandr

jesper@linux-qduk:~> xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   1024x768 76.0*

Gives me my laptop screen I assume, and I also tried to edit the xorg.conf file as mentioned Multiple Screens Using XRandR - openSUSE there. But that doesn’t work, just brings me to terminal upon restart.

Almost forgot, my graphic card is this: VIA CN400/PM800/PM880/PN800/PN880 [S3 UniChrome Pro].

Anyone can help me with this?

Regards,
Jesper.
