Hello I am using Open Suse 11.2 on my HP DV6 notebook. I am connecting my television to the notebook with a HDMI cable and the television is unable to find any signal. Am I missing anything here? Shouldn’t it be simply connecting the HDMI cable finding the source channel on the television and then I get sound and picture…Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Found the solution for this. Actually the OS doesn’t seem to instantly recognize the external monitor just by plugging in the cable. You need to go Configure Desktop–>Display. When I did this the Display setting immediatly recognized the second monitor and I was able to configure it according to my needs.Hope this helps anyone who has a similar situation.
When I typed “xrandr” it did not produce any popup screen as it did in your situation. It only produced information regarding the screen resolution as text inside the Konsole. Also when I configured the monitors to be a clone or whichever configuration from the Configure Desktop–>Display. After configuring one time it does it automatically each time thereafter. Also FYI I am using an AMD CPU and graphics platform.Hope this is helpful for you.
