I have two computer loaded with openSUSE. On the Toshiba I can hook up a camera, external hard drive and a thumb drive and they are recognized but in my wifes HP 2133 Mini With a they are not recognized. Does anyone know why they would work in one and not the other.
What version of openSUSE do you have on each? What desktop do you have on each? Do both PC’s have USB-2 ?
I am running version 11.0 with the Gnome desktop and both computers have usb-2.
OK, on your wife’s HP 2133 Mini, go into the BIOS and look for a USB setting to put the USB into “legacy mode” (or something like that).
Also, ensure you have the application “usbutils” installed on your wife’s PC, and with one or more of the USB devices plugged in, type: lsusb and see if the devices are detected.
OK, so 11.0 on both. Gnome on both. USB-2 hardware on both. Correct?
Yes to all 3.
Thank you. By installing usbutils my wifes computer now recognizes usb devices. My computer recognizes usb devices without that installed however.
Glad to read its working now.
