Exsist driver for Canon TR8500 series?

Hello,

After installing Tumbleweed, I was surprised not to find the driver for Canon TR8500 series printers (as well as other drivers from the same manufacturer) in the cups-filters2-driverless package.
This is unfortunate because it worked well in the cups-filters 1.28.17-5.1 package.
Do you think it will be included in the cups-filters2-driverless package soon?

Best regards

D.

Is the printer connected to your LAN? It should support driverless (IPP Everywhere / AirPrint) printing.

Make sure your firewall allows mDNS traffic through, then try discovering it with the following commands:

driverless
sudo lpinfo -v

Please capture and post the output here. That will show whether the printer is correctly advertising itself for driverless setup.

Good evening

Oh, sorry for that useless announcement.
Yes, the printer is connected to the network.

Indeed, by applying the HOME zone of the firewall, the printer is detected immediately.
No need to add anything to the firewall.

For the sake of completeness, the two queries give the following results

toto@mealworm:~> driverless
ipps://Canon%20TR8500%20series._ipps._tcp.local/

toto@mealworm:~> sudo lpinfo -v
network beh
network lpd
network http
file cups-pdf:/
network ipp
network ipps
network socket
network https
network smb
network dnssd://Canon%20TR8500%20series._ipp._tcp.local/?uuid=00000000-0000-1000-8000-001823105e54
network ipps://Canon%20TR8500%20series._ipps._tcp.local/

That’s just perfect.

Many thanks for the quick response.
