Export contact list from a Nokia E51 using gnokii

Hello fellow brethren.

I have been struggling to export my contact list from an aging Nokia E51 using gnokii but
not had much luck.

**[1075] > gnokii --config /home/andri/.gnokiirc --identify**
GNOKII Version 0.6.30
IMEI : 35933XXXXXXXXXX
Manufacturer : Nokia
No flags section in the config file.
Model : Nokia E51
Product name : Nokia E51
Revision : V ICPR71_08w44.4

**[1076] > gnokii --config /home/andri/.gnokiirc --getphonebook ME 1 end**
GNOKII Version 0.6.30
Error reading from the location 1 in memory ME
Error: Unknown error - well better than nothing!!

The phone also failed to connect via wammu (Version: 0.32.1-2.12). I goal
is to transfer my contacts (and preferably SMS) to a Samsung Galaxy S II. What
is the preferred way to accomplish that?

(I’m running 11.4 64-bit & Gnome 2.30.2 with a 2.6.34.10-0.2-desktop kernel
on a Dell Latitude D830).

Cheers!

It is difficult. Some links I used:

http://tuxmobil.org/
http://dataconv.org/apps_mobile_phone.html
http://wiki.gnokii.org/
http://guibo.com/~guibo/syncnokia/

Mine, it works partially. In the end, I’m using the windows tool.

Ok, which one is the “windows tool”?

Nokia has two, one old but still maintained and which I prefer (Nokia PC
Suite), and a modern one, much more flashy and bigger. I can extract the
data, and export as .csv files which I then read in LibreOffice.

You case is different, because you want to import on Samsung, which is a
different brand. Linux tools are better suited for that, but unfortunately,
are difficult to use, and sometimes they do not work.
