Well, it’s about a bug, a showstopper!
Installation of LEAP 42.2 within VMware Player 12.5.2. Under windows 7, no chance, never came up, crashed before.
Under SLES 11 SP4, same player, yes, it could be installed, yes it could be configured, and yes the size of the VMware-window could be changed at will, and it worked. But only until I downloaded and installed the patches with yast. This also worked without error, but then tiny window, I guess 800 by 600 pixels on a big screen. Fulls screen, or any size in between? The size of the window changed, but the usable desktop was fixed at the mentioned size. Simply not usable! I’m working with SuSe since the 199x, version one or two. I don’t remember. Anyway I was not able to change the size of the desktop. Sax is gone! I repeated the whole installation process, outcome identical! There were so many patches, I’m not able, nor willing to search the buggy one. But at least one is the showstopper. Hence end of history. The start of this time steeling exercise, was the fact of the long queue of dependencies if you try to compile and install a version above the available ones of the cpp compiler within SLES 11! I was wrong thinking to save time doing it in a virtual machine environment. Painful Experience!

It’s about an emotional rant, as opposed to seeking help, so posted in the wrong forum. It will be moved to soapbox…

Moved from Install/Boot/Login and open for posting again.

Perhaps you should use VMware Workstation and not Player and enable guest window scaling.

According to VMware, openSUSE 42.1 and 42.2 are not currently supported in VMware Workstation Player. That could very well be why it doesn’t work for you. Try a different virtualization platform.

I haven’t used virtualisation for a long time but I’d suggest you try virtualbox along with it’s extension pack. For me when I did use them it’s always been 100% reliable.

I can’t say the same about others.

Maybe forgot/didn’t install vmware guest additions?
