we have a executable file we need help with. when the run shell exec command is opened in konquerer and we indicate the application file the program executes just fine. we would like the ability to possibly make a shortcut link that will run the command line to exec the file. the file has been selected to be exec. no it does not open on click. any help would be great.
also we would like to start learning linux, any and all about it. got any pointers of where to start. new converts here.

We could use a little more info:
- What is the name of the executable file you are trying to run?
- Is this executable file graphic based or meant to run in terminal?
- Where did you obtain the executable file from and how was it installed?
- Where is the executable file located (folder name(s))?
- What version of openSUSE are you using? (11.4,11.3 or 12.1)
- Are you using a 32 or a 64 bit installation?
- What desktop do you use (KDE or GNOME)?
With this information we can help you make a shortcut somewhere that will run for you.
Thank You,
One additional is the files permissions set to executable?
