Exapnding the OpenSUSE Wiki

Hey all,

After searching around the OpenSUSE Wiki, I kind of noticed that it lacked information on important topics and sections of OpenSUSE. Don’t get me wrong, the Wiki is great and I cannot tell you how many times it has helped me find something I needed, or answered a question of mine. My idea was simply to expand the amount of data in the Wiki by adding more articles on important topics, such as basic programs for both Gnome and KDE. Plus, a lot of times, information is repeated for different problems and becomes redundant, so making a single Wiki page on it, and then just giving the article URL seems much easier. Considering no one person knows everything about OpenSUSE there is to know, all help and articles submitted are useful. Just a consideration since the Wiki is a great help for both new users and more experienced users.

What do you guys think about this idea?

Thank you for the consideration!

Each contribution is a gift of the heaven. Just go for it!

I’d be happy to see more articles in the wiki. Mainly because I don’t share your opinion of how good it is. I almost never find the information I am looking for in there. The first line of every search I have ever made there is “No exact page title matches…” I just erased a list of annoyances I have with the wiki, because the fault is probably mine and not the wiki.

However, the wiki is essentially useless to me. I usually end up going to google linux search and find info in there. Oh! and of course I look here first.

Go to the search page: Search results - openSUSE

now tick the areas you want to search as many are not set for default

May help:)

I have tried adjusting this in the past. Which do you recommend? Which should be shut off?

Hi,

Please look here in this forum, and have a look at this.

What you think? Is it useful?

Just trying to help find software.
