evolution crashing - memory error - openSUSE 11.3 / Evolution 2.30.1.2

Howdy y’all…

openSUSE 11.3 / kernel 2.6.34.7-0.7 / Gnome 2.30.0 / Evolution 2.30.1.2

Evolution keeps crashing, began quite recently but I can’t pin down exactly when…

Running from a terminal, crash messages are:

** (evolution:5624): CRITICAL **: file gkr-operation.c: line 350 (gkr_operation_request): should not be reached

** (evolution:5624): CRITICAL **: file gkr-operation.c: line 350 (gkr_operation_request): should not be reached

MEMORY-ERROR: evolution[5624]: GSlice: assertion failed: sinfo->n_allocated > 0
Aborted

Help, anybody? Thanks.

Maybe you can try fileing a bug in gnome bugzilla. And check the link below;

I had this problem long ago with the original 2.30 version of evolution.
Newer builds for evolution 2.30 which obviously solved the problem are in
the gnome 2.30 stable repository. (I ran it some time without that issue
before I update to 2.32 with oS 11.3).

Switch to that
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/STABLE:/2.30/openSUSE_11.3

It makes no sense to file a bug for an outdated build 2.30.1 if a build
2.30.3 is available for a long time now. If there is still a bug with this
newer build then file a bug.

Thanks to both who replied, for your ideas. Apparently this is an old bug - since at least 2005 - that has been major ‘fixed’ at least a couple of times before but keeps coming back. I think it surfaced for me when there was a fairly recent update to something, maybe something in evolution-data-server?

Anyway, I solved it by just moving to 11.4, which I intended to do soon anyway. Same /home on 11.4 that I used for 11.3 (and 11.2, and 11.1, and 10.3…) and Evolution (now 2.32.1) now seems to work perfectly fine so at least I know my Evolution data files weren’t at fault nor are they damaged.

Thanks again, y’all.

Glad you found a solution. Since you anyway upgraded to 11.4 I add this just
as a hint if some one else looks onto this thread who does not want to move
to 11.4. There is also a repository for gnome 2.32 with evolution 2.32
available for opensuse 11.3.
