I’ve tried to get Everquest to run under opensuse without success. I’m running version opensuse 13.2 on an AMD 64bit. I read where those running Ubuntu, Mint, and Fedora have got it running with little or no issue. I’ve used Wine, winetricks, and playonlinux and they all fail at some point. I really dislike having to run my games under windows. I’m not a fan of Ubuntu and have quite a bit tied up in opensuse. (databases, servers, …) I realize this is an ancient game. But it is one I enjoy playing. What I would like to know is if anyone else running opensuse with the KDE desktop has managed to get it running. If so would they pass on any tricks they managed to uncover?
Without knowing what is failing with this game, have you reviewed the common problems and solutions outlined here?

I note that Everquest is one of the games that requires a particular DLL file and this involves using winecfg as outlined below

Another idea - it might be worth trialling CrossOver to see if this supports the game better.
BTW, some Linux users would consider using a VM with a windows guest for gaming (or other specific purposes).
That’s about all I can offer.
