Eucalyptus 1.6.2 broken on OpenSuSE 11.3 kernel 2.6.34-12

Eucalyptus Private Cloud Computing components are broken on OpenSuSE 11.3 based on Kernel 2.6.34-12. Specifically image execution results in “pad block corruption” when running virtual images. It is a much more serious issue in that recent mods to the kernel level file copying function sendfile(2) introduced a 2-char typo. Sendfile(2) is used by OpenJDK and a number of other applications to do fast copying of files & sockets. A fix has been identified and put into newer Kernel stream 2.6.35-6.9. When can we expect a kernel update in OpenSuSE 11.3?

You might want to look at this thread which talks about the new Kernel.

Kernel Linux 2.6.35 is released

I have managed to get 2.6.35-rc6 loaded without a problem. I do not know when the final version will actually show up ready to load into openSUSE 11.3, but it will not be made part or the present release. It will remain a manual and personnel decision to switch to the new kernel.

Thank You,

Although the latest Kernel Of The Day described in Kernel - openSUSE) includes the fix to sendfile(2) booting vmlinuz-2.6.35-rc6-16-2-xen panics and Xen is required for Eucalyptus (Vanilla kernel boots OK).
