Ethernet Controller Not Configured

i bought a new motherboard, ASUS P5QPL-AM. Installed SUSE 11. everything works fine except for the onboard NIC. When i go into the network settings in yast, the name of the adapter is Attansic Ethernet Controller, but the IP address is not configured. at the bottom the message reads: “Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device (eth0, wlan0) is not present”. i tried to install the driver that was provided with the motherboard through ndiswrapper but no luck.

can someone please assist?

11 what? 11.0, 11.1 or 11.2? The older the version the less chance of support for new hardware. If you are starting from fresh, use the latest, 11.2.

i’m using 11.0.

Try 11.2. No good reason to install a release that will be out of support soon.
